Sorry for jumping into this thread so late, but the idea of seeing our fav artists on the tuba is kinda neat. I am skeptical, however, that MTV can do this right. They have the dubious distinction of riding the current wave, no matter where it takes them. Just look at the filth that grunge and rap have become and you can see that genres that were once respectible are now a joke. My gut feeling is that stuff like Rednex and Moby will dominate after a short while because of their commercial appeal; and as we all know MTV's existence depends upon the masses, not us puny IDM'ers. The fact is that REGARDLESS of how MTV affects the IDM show, the music that WE love will not be affected. There will still be an 'underground' for us to enjoy because we will be creating it and taking part in it. Sure, Aphex might decide to go for the big bucks, but someone else will take his place. Same goes for any artist. So which IDM artist should be the proverbial Buggles? "Video killed the IDM star...." ;-) -------------------------------------------------------------- | Bob Weisend | "I'm not an actor, | | rweisend@galaxy.csc.calpoly.edu | but I play one | | http://www.csc.calpoly.edu/~rweisend | on TV." | --------------------------------------------------------------
