Hi Just a note for anyone interested. The Plug 1 and 2 EP's have now been reissued as a dbl 12" and a CD single. I seem to recall reading that there was some degree of remixing involved in this re-release but don't remember quite what is supposed to have been done. Anyone remember? peter

Aiee! This is the news of the month (after Bluff Limbo). This is on Rising High, right? I've only heard Plug 2, but it's a brilliant record. Does this mean that the upcoming album on Rising High is all new material. I have a feeling that the standard for d&b is about to be raised a couple hundred notches.

Sorry, should have mentioned it - it's on Blue Angel which is, I believe, some sort of subsiduary of Rising High. Catalogue number (for the CD) is Angel 6 CD, title Plug 1 + 2. peter

Actually, it's on Blue Angel (which I'm hearing is a Rising High sub-label). I caught a look at the double-12" in the shoppe today, and while it looks like Plug 1 stays intact on the re-release, Plug 2 is slightly altered. Two mixes of "Cheesy" from the original release (the Aura Mix and the Pic'n Mix, for those keeping score) are left off, while a new mix (the Amen Mix) is added. I've now actually played the CD single and it's bad news folks. Two tracks have been removed from the original release - namely 607 from Plug 1 and Cheesy (Pic'n Mix) from Plug 2. Also the Aura Mix has been renamed (presumably by accident) as the Amen mix. Words fail me, especially since both the sleeve and CD actually list all the tracks! peter

Well I finally got this tonite at Aron's before the Lush show (they weren't as good as last time.) Interesting hearing the inspiration for so much of the experimental jungle happening now. I have to admit though what I've heard so far sounds right tame next to Hangable Auto Bulb & Squarepusher. Also picked up Bluff Limbo but I still can't find Bubble & Squeak here in LA/OC. BTW, wondering about the following releases, how are these: Artcore 2, Orb Peel Sessions, Live at the Heavenly Social vol. 1 The Chemical Brothers, that new Moving Shadow comp (something from the east?)? I didn't really care for PLUG 2, or the CHEMICAL BROTHERS - live at the Heavenly social pt.1. I think the Chemicals are GREAT at making music, but as far as there choice of music to spin, I thought it was weak (alot of old rap). I think BRIT HOP & AMYL HOUSE was better. The SQUAREPUSHER on Rephlex is pretty good, I think I like the new PHOTEK ON A.R.T. better. JEGA on SKAM is really good, everyone should get this one. The new JEFF MILLS dj cd from Sony Japan, is really good!! Gotta throw in my praise for this one too. An absolutely brilliant 12" from the Skam posse. Jega combines a very haunting sense of melodicism with rugged downtempo electro-esque drum loops, and the end result is really gripping. Plus, the one "jungle" cut on here is totally dark, totally out-there, totally different, and full of funk. A+. - Matthew
