Finally got to see Ken Ishii's anime video for "Extra", after months of
looking for it - it turns out that one of the CD-ROMs from MacLIFE, a Japanese
Mac magazine, had a Director movie with an excerpt from the video. So it's not
the whole thing, but enough to give me a good idea of what all the hype was
about: pulsing, violent images of kids with guns, killer androids and weird
chemicals. Plus a "Ken Ishii" and "R&S Records" neon sign and logo to boot.
Very nice indeed; I still wish I could get the whole thing on tape.
Turns out also that Sony has a website for its techno artists, with a
downloadable QT clip that has some bits and pieces from the Extra video, plus
info and clips from Ishii, Derrick May, Jeff Mills and some Japanese artists.
