Anybody know anything about a label in Miami (or thereabouts) named Isophlex or somesuch? It was recommended to us by Allan and Joe over at Plug Research and last week I heard a bangin' track that was on that label (though the artist escapes me). At first I thought "This might be some Aphex track I haven't heard ... " (I don't have HAB 2, for example) but then later on I thought "Nope, maybe this is a Gescom or unknown Autechre track". It was neither but that should give you some idea of the territory it inhabited. (This is partially Blatant Self-Promotion[tm] oriented; the better half is almost ready with her could-this-be-the-first-ever-female-solo-IDM? release, and we're sniffing about for labels to send demos to. If anyone out there is familiar with label stuff and needs a pedigree, let me know. In her previous incarnation she released 2 albums on Kk Records [Psychic Warriors' label; she played live with them in Europe], toured Europe and the US West Coast, and at present is working with LA folks like DJ Kool-Aid and Q from the City of Angels label. If any of that blather means anything to you (-: ) - Greg

Here is what I got on it: Shad T. Scott EP ISOPHLUX (techno/triphop) Coming out of South Florida is S.T.S....Isophlux is his new label, starting with the first release being a 5-track EP of pure Aphex styled tracks. The first track called "Sand Pail" having a Warp-esque styled sound with stellar emotional string arrangements and electronic beats. The second track called "Orlando Feel" being a total Aphex Twin styled tune with weird sound sequencing backed up by string patterns. Flipside, track "Seven" that is just pure random acid notes being tweaked with resonance! "Phluphation" is a very dark metallic percussive song that sinks deep into your mind. Lastly, "Isophlux vs. Edward Bobb" is an ambient journey into spaced out minimalism, ending onto a locked groove. Sounds delish, huh? Dave at EAR/R is currently trying to find me as copy. I cannot wait. The Dean-O-Matic
