I picked up this album called Fresh Emissions last week... 3 slabs of 12"
vinyl, plus a bonus 7". It says on the back (c) 1995 Sabres Of Paradise,
except track C2. I suppose this is a Sabres release, but I'm wondering
how new/old is it?
I hadn't noticed any mention of it recently, so I'm wondering if this is
just a release ala The Black Dog's Parallel EP, which was written like 3
or 4 years ago.
The tracks on here sound very intricate, with minimal amounts of
intrumentation going on. Very fresh IDM listening, and it's given me a
good listen into all the cool things I've seen posted about previous
Sabres releases.
Also, while I'm on the subject of this style of music, has anybody heard an
album by RAC, called Structures? It's on Warp (WAP71), and imo, not at all
what I was expecting. The packaging/artwork on the sleeve led me to almost
believe it might be an Autechre release, but I knew it surely couldn't be,
or I'd've seen the hordes posting back and forth about it. :-)
So I took my chances and gave it a whirl... and well, it's just not really
palatable. I'd much prefer to listen to the Ventolin single at high
volume than this thing at low volume for extended periods of time. It just
doesn't have very much "structure", oddly enough. Or maybe it's got too
much of it. I really can't put my finger on it.
At any rate, if anybody's heard it that's got a good opin of it, please
speak up... I'd like to hear other impressions of it.
