The Gentle People - Emotion Heater (rephlex cat041) 1.Vocal Mix : 4m29 2.Instrumental Mix (Parts i,ii,iii) : 11m27 3.Tiki Mix (word and vocal by Harmony Angel) : 4m19 4.Reheated by Luke Vibert : 7m33 The (gentle) people who brought us the easy listening and great 'Journey' are back with their second single. 'Emotion Heater' is not quite as good as 'Journey', but it is in the same category of music, and it is quite good. It contains the familiar soft male and female vocals and soft, catchy tunes. However, the best thing about this single is the Vibert reheat, which is a brilliant 'Intelligent Jungle' (I believe that's the term, please correct me if I'm wrong) outing. I do not like jungle that much, but I like this a lot. It is basically a Vibert track (he gets co-credits) with the better bits of the original added in, complementing it beautifully. Like 'Selected Ambient Works 2', it takes a few listens to fully appreciate, but then it can become great background music, or music for getting to sleep. Nice 'n' gentle. While 'Journey' would be perfect on any James Bond soundtrack, 'Emotion Heater' does not quite have the same affect. The Vibert reheat, however, should be on any future of jungle/drum n bass compilation. If you liked 'Journey' or like Luke Vibert, I suggest getting this. 7/10 Luke Rayner Canberra Australia
