Better known as Andie or Miss Inky Blacknuss [ - Sabrettes Label ], her first releases in collaboration with DJ Alex Knight and producer Ian Tregoning were immediately acclaimed as avant-agarde techno excursions. Using weird samples and effects (includeing things like a sneeze or a carwash!) to create a unique sound, Andrea utilises the best of modern technology to make recors that could only have been created during the '90s. No wonder, then, that she has been snapped up by pioneering label Mo' Wax for her first album deal (due in June '96) after being courted by the likes of R&S, Infonet and Heavenly. Andrea's in demand. And it's no surprise. [ the ad goes on with some promotion of the MiniDisc ] Andrea's top six for '96 1 Jeff Mills - Axis (15,16) 2 Bandulu -corner Stone (Blanco Y Negro) 3 Various - Saudade Do Brazil Vol3 4 Beauton - Aqua Regia (Iridial) 5 Tortoise - Millions Now LIving Will Never Die (Tim Goldsworthy Remix) (Important Music) 6 Sapce DJs - Ecatic (Infonet) Hope that helps...

Hi. Got the new EP by Andrea on Mo Wax ("Melodious thunk") yesterday. One major problem for me: I don't know anything about this artist, except that she?/he? has worked with David Morley, notably the excellent "Angular art EP" on Infonet last year. Morley is also credited on the Mo Wax EP (mixed and arranged). From where? Real name? Age? Previous efforts? Future plans? Christian P.S. Sorry about the crosspost, but at least it's short...don't know about the sweetness.

I meant to reply to this yesterday, but I love Andrea Parker! Beautiful woman, and makes Techno/Orchestra muzak like no one I know! Some might know her (on this list, anyway) from her work with David Morley on the "angular art" EP on Infonet, but she's been release tunnzzz of stuff on Mo Wax, also under the Inky Blackmus moniker as well. As someone mentioned, there is a brief article written in the latest issue of Muzik. She's attached to one of the Bandulu boys, though! Dammit. I never get the good ones!!! Derek

I'd say it's probably just your average Brazillian comp with samba, MPB (Brazillian rock/pop), maybe bossa nova too. I'm pretty sure I can't see anyone putting out IDM with a title with this - even if the comp is more techno-oriented instead of rock-oriented. If anyone decides on taking a break from hearing electronic music but still wants some interesting rhythms, check out a samba or forro record - the grooves are absolutely amazing. On a similar tip I picked up Muslimgauze's 'Izlamaphobia' the other day, and it has the most fucked-up rhythms I've heard this side of Aphex. The release doesn't have many tracks with a song structure, but the beats are insane. Some of it is heavily processed duff and tabla stuff, and there are a few hip-hoppish (albeit with an arab sensibility) tracks too. It sounds like the dude who is Muslimgauze recorded a bunch of live drum playing, sampled it, processed the loops with chorusing, flanging, feedback, and then used the beats for the tracks. Dope stuff IMO. GD

She also did some stuff one the Sabrettes label as Inky Blacknuss featuring herself, Alex Knight, and Ian Tregoning. Pretty minimal stuff actually. Two 12", one sounded like a track played backward... robert feugate grizzla@lava.net

Ha ha ha. I glad people pigeon hole other labels too. Can I send this quote to Lavelle ;) The Parker stuff I've heard is bass heavy clonky technoey stuff and is rather good. Chantal's been playing the Rocking Chair whatnot for sometime, I think it has some singing in it somewhere. g.
