The Plastics. I can't tell you much except that I think I had everything they released (or that I knew about) - which was 4 lps somwhere between 1979 and 1982. Yes, they were Japanese and more light/playful than most of the other
J-pop I was collecting then (e.g, Melon, Ippu Do, Masami Tsuchiya, YMO, etc). A lot of what I listen to from Japan had that sort-of "lightness" to it, but The Plastics were more that way than anything else I remember. It's another
one of those "I wish I'd never dumped my vinyl" moments. Wouldn't mind finding the old Melon stuff, either.
