Hi, Lately I've been really digging the sounds of electro... 808 hits, and hi-hats... very nice. I've picked up a few releases which have the sound I want, and they are as follows: Gescom EP: Clear Ectomorph: Interdimensional Transmissions (trancelucent grey vinyl, dark and scary :) Existence and Uniqueness of Solutions: Switch Records (small label out of detroit/toronto.. going on tour in the UK this month) South of Market EP: Reflective (not as "dancey" as the others, but still nice to listen to) Now, does any one have any other records with these kind of sounds? preferably dark, acidic, if possible, electro sound stuff... (oh, yeah, a tiny bit of underground dancefloor "edge" would be nice, no pop techno please) I played the above at a club last night (with the exception of the Reflective record) and it seemed to go over very well.. unfortunately I ran out of electro records, and had to go into my more acidic progressive style records. Thanks in advance for the help Michael "I can't believe they _paid_ me!" -- /----------------------------------\Michael Simla: umsimla0@cc.umanitoba.ca |Alien Visitation: alien@passport.ca\______________________ |Website: http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~umsimla0/alien.html \Ting ya fine! \----------------------------------------------------------/ 23

I recently picked up a very cool compilation (thanks Derek) called Origins of a sound (The City that forced the world into the future- a Submerge compilation) with a circuclar sticker which states "electro bass sound of Detroit." A <very> tasty concoction which includes Drexciya, Aux 88, Mad Mike, Andre Holland, Gigi Galaxy and The Martian. It has just those sounds you luv and more. For those old school sounds - check out the Rhino records series called Elektro Funk. happy new year richard _`~=~=~`boom~~`boom~=~= _-I-__\ /__ ` ~ / \_ -I-

Depending on your particular taste, the next record you buy ought to be: 1) Jake Slazenger - MakesARacket (Clear) Varied, clownish and danceable updated electro. 1) Octagon Man - The Exciting World of... (Electron Industries) Darker, chunkier and intelligenter than any out these days, though no odd meters. 1) Alien FM 2x12" (430 West) Blip, blop, boom in the poplocking looped Detroit style. I'm surprised I haven't seen any discussion of the Octagon Man LP on here. I think it's an expert fusion of electro and dub rolling around in the mud (as well as around my turntable, often). The Elektroworld LP by Elektroids on Warp is also good for starters.

The fact that you got a good response is a good sign that they are open to this sort of thing. Rock that shit.. eh
