Ela! I spent my downtime this weekend thoroughly enjoying Atom Heart's new 'rather interesting' _BASS_ disc. Super produced stereosonic low end mellow digital grooves. Like roaming the Orlando streets with a trunk of ambient bass funk melding with the hum of your fat wheel tires. It comes *highly* recommended from this Basshead. There is an Atom Heart "live at sel i/s/c" disc. Live where? And who is going to sell me their Lisa Carbon Trio material!? ;-) Teep

If I 'member right, I got the impression (from the liner notes - which you should be able to read shortly, Teep. :-)) that sel i/s/c is a studio, so it's not actually live in front of an audience. :-( cya brian

He's going to put money into Mr. James pocket when his Lisa Carbon material emerges on RePHleX. I can't wait. And I suspect he'll be 'the next big thing' about that time so you get your reading glasses on now ...or preheat your kill files. Mazzel! Teep on now: softcore

Could someone please let me know about the "Shellglove" cd from ATOM HEART. I haven't heard ANY previous releases (believe it or not) and have a chance at buying a used copy for cheap. How many releases have ATOM HEART put out? I don't need a complete discography..........................just curious. I like it a lot. It's a very varied release. A full review follows my signature (RI refers to Rather Interesting, an Atom Heart-run label on which he's released many albums).

Over 50. He's very prolific. NP: Meat Beat Manifesto - "Now" -- Adam J Weitzman -- Individual, Inc. -- http://www.individual.com -- "We need your fax number in order to respect your wishes not to receive unsolicited faxes." - a Microsoft registration screen Atom Heart Shellglove Recent Programmings/Semaphore 1814 (Germany) 9 tracks, 67:46 1. Splendour Trash 11:51 This is a determined Atom Heart release. Much of it wouldn't sound out of place on a Black Dog record. Cacophonous rhythms, melodious interludes, off-kilter noises, occasional ambience, this is a very purposeful disc. While the experimentation level here is not particularly high and the "tools" are familiar, the result is rather admirable and likable anyways. It's a nice change of pace from the "noodling" we've become accustomed to in some of the recent RI releases, very precise and complex. "Shell" is truly a kick-ass rhythm track. "Helicon Valley" is a well-placed ambient space, very pretty. The shuffling "Mellow Sequence" is my favorite, and it also happens to be the most RI-ish of the bunch (along with "Marimba Suave"), mis-steppin' blippiness (plus a surprise "traditional" instrument!). "Nautre Bypass Biology" is a droney workout, hypnotic and sublime. Definitely a solid entry in the AH library. Not spectacluar, but deliberately engaging and complete. Seven out of ten.

I just got -273C from Newt and so far I'm diggin' it. Would anybody recommend Phaseshifting, their latest album? Also, does anybody know where an inhabitant of the US like me can find some Atom Heart CDs at decent prices?

well, it's only an ep of a few new tracks and remixes off of _-273C_, but it's good. damned good. more d'n'b and aggressive, at points, and yet more atmospheric. NEWT are a class of their own.

Funny you say that : I almost fell over in a very dodgy 2nd hand shop cum internet cafe today : found the Atom Heart + Tetsu Inoue Datacide II CD on Fax... wonders never cease, it seems (this is South Africa, folks ...) Ah, and I also bought Tack>>head on vinyl. Happy camper :-) Temporarily of course, till the craving strikes. I *
