Really spacey ambient with the micro-clicky-percussion of AH coming in and out.
quoted 2 lines B. Laswell / Atom Heart / T. Inoue> B. Laswell / Atom Heart / T. Inoue > Second Nature
In the same vein but w/o the clicks. BTW, neither of the above are particularly good--I've heard better from all four of them. Laswell's recent Silent Recoil Dub System One was really excellent.

This is not really a LB disc (well, although LB and AH are the same person, he normally reserves the LB name for the more dark industrial-ish stuff.) So it's really an AH album. If you like the other AH stuff on Rather Interesting you'll like this. The beats are a little meatier than the more recent BASS and Silver Sound. Ashok

I disagree. Jet Chamber is more trancey. The idea behind SECOND NATURE is as it's title suggests, a 'Second Nature' - a synthetic/ electronic version of one of those nature tapes you can buy in health food stores. For example, here are some of the song titles: "Synthetic Forest" and "Artificial Seaside". A lot of my friends hate it because of this. I really dig it personally... the sounds of crickets, birds, the ocean - all artificially created. With no MSG. The thing that differentiates it from the put-you-to-sleep genre of the 'new age' idea is (of course) the Uwe Schmidt (AH) and Tetsu Inoue influence - heavy industro beats rolling in and out of an ambient landscape, which ends up bringing it all together. Hell, the clicks and rumbling bass makes it all worth-while. It kind of reminds me of "Mu" by MPA, but more up-beat and less experimental. Oh, and there are only four tracks, ranging from 6+ to 16+ to 28+ minutes.

Hm. There are of course better outings, but I dig them all the same.

well you can still check out my FAX and Rather Interesting sites which has it's own set of press releases and reviews: http://www.hyperreal.com/fax/ http://www.hyperreal.com/music/labels/rather_interesting/

I love this one, ambintelligent stylee. Probably the best I've heard from both of them.
quoted 1 line B. Laswell / Atom Heart / T. Inoue: Second Nature>B. Laswell / Atom Heart / T. Inoue: Second Nature
also quite nice, Tetsu does the atmosphere, Uwe (AH) does the beats and Laswell does the bass (and quite pronounced at times too!)
quoted 1 line Lassigue Bendthaus: Semi-Acoustic Nature>Lassigue Bendthaus: Semi-Acoustic Nature
LB is usually Tetsu and Uwe (Atom Heart) but this is only Atom Heart and it's on his own Rather Interesting label. I liked this much better than his previous beat oriented release on this label, Interactive Music. This is much more focused on rhythm and warm samples of acoustic instruments and animals, etc. Again check out the URLs listed above or just bounce off my home page, URL below in my .signature ___ / / / / / / _ __/ will@panix.com (_/__/ / (__ (__ ___/ http://www.hyperreal.com/~will/

I agree -- Jet Chamber & Second Nature were subpar, the latter primarily due to Laswell's irritating bass thuds. Substitute 62 Eulengasse, Electro Harmonix, or Psychonavigation 2 for a better sample of these artists. Tim

Pleasant ambient piece, at times with a very light electro beat. Layers of guitar texturing and dark flowing synth bring this entire disc together. I quite like it, and find it's very relaxing and moving... though at times the duo tend to get lost in their creation, the overall effect is good. ____ __,---' `--.__ ,-' ; `.
