A week or so ago I asked for information about starting up a label. Lots of people replied and most were in some way helpful, others were synical but raised important points which are worth thinking about. One issue raised was that I needed contributors, money, Determination and a distributor. I've enquired into the distribution and costs, and I generally have a 'Game plan' worked out, But only if I get some contributions together...basically if I get a load of tracks that I like, and that I am willing to put on a CD compilation then I'll become determined enough to release a Compliation. I'm not going to release a CD for the sake of releasing something. So now the first part of the process begins...if you are an Electronic artist and you're willing to send out demos, which may or may not eventually end up on a compilation CD, please would you mail me and i'll send you an address. If alternatively you want details also mail me back. If you know of any other lists that electronic composers are likely to be on, please distribute my E-Mail address and the basic details. One person asked if I was deadly serious...I'm Not deadly but I am serious. I am also a music lover not a businessman so be prepared for slack ideas rather than business principals. All submissions will have to be tape, well not DAT at least. I promise to listen to every tape I get, and I also will try to reply to everyone who sends me stuff. I would just like to re-itterate I'll only set something in motion if I get a load of tracks I want to release, so nothing is definate. If you're not interested I don't blame you. NICK. ndavey@essex.ac.uk PS.. Someone wrote and in the message said all I've got to lose is the price of a tape and the postage costs...I ilked that attitude, however some people were worried about copyright. I will not use anything unless I've got the consent of the artist, I will also not steal anything, but if you are worried copyright your tracks before you send them out. All replies gratefully recieved.
