Just got a few questions: What's the deal with Mira Calix? Who is it, have they released anything other than llanga and pin skeeling. Do they go by any other names? What did gescom have to do with llanga?? What's the relation to seefeel?? now on to my favorite subject: Boards of Canada. Anyone have any ideas on what their "secret weapon" is? gotta be pretty old, and cheap. never heard a sound like it What are these released calle BIT one and BIT 2? aka old tunes vol1 and two? what tracks are there?? I've heard that they were "released" just befor MHTRTC. If anyone has Acid Memories, Play By Numbers, or Hooper Bay, I will pay $100 each for a very high quality CDR of them. More Questions: SYNTH TALK: Does anyone know where I could buy a Roland GR-300 (not the guitar synth.) I have a JP-8000, and it has a patch that's modeled after the GR-300 solo patch. But I want the real synth because that has to be my favorite lead. Does anyone have information on this synth?? all of the synth museum sites fail to mention anything about it. If anyone can pick me a up a copy of this shapes release I will reward you greatly! I live in shittville which is a suburb of whatisIDMtown, located south of the capital, there'smusicthatisn'tthebackstreetboysville USA. So my chances of seeing let alone hearing this release are slim. so i leave it up to you, fellow IDM listeners. Please. Well, I'd appreciate anyone's help with these questions.... thanks to everyone that does help out. And to david turgeon: You're leaving because someone from hotmail, probably rob sall, insulted you. so you insult everyone else on this list?? anyone else see any irony in this??? foambee@splink.com http://www.splink.com/punkrag/bzrec/ (my record label) http://www.splink.com/punkrag/crtrader/ (cdr/mp3 trading)

mira calix is (was?) the girlfriend of one of the autechre lads. that ep is the only release to my knowledge, aside from an incredibly obnoxious track on WAP100. her music is, as i understand it, mostly the work of mark clifford (seefeel, disjecta) with her voice over it all. the EP is nice though. i'd like hear more. - wells oliver / s0ewoliv@vcu.edu "If you make me look bad, I swear to God, I'll never talk to you again."

GR are the letters Roland has used for all but their newest guitar synths. It was one of (if not the) first decent guitar synth, and has been used by some really well known guitarists. That, and the fact that it had a decent lead sound (or so you say, as far as I know I haven't heard one) probably makes it worthy of inclusion in the JP-8000. a few things you might try: one possibility might be to hunt one down and come up with some way of using it via midi, but that would be tricky to say the least, and maybe even impossible "real" Roland synths from that period might have the same sound on them newer Roland guitar synths are also controllable via midi so if they have the same lead sound (they probably don't) you could use one of those Jeremy --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i'm 95% positive she has a track on whitehouse's "extreme music from women" compilation.... so maybe she's been doing the power electronics/noise thing lately? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I used to have a Roland GR-30 (a relatively recent guitar synth they started making about 3 years ago or so) and there was a patch that I believe was called GR-300 or GR-30 lead on there too (more probable GR-300). Anyway, now I have a JP-8000 and the patch you speak of sounds the same as the GR-30 patch, barring the fact that it sounds a LOT better on the JP-8000 than on the GR-30. Hope that helps or something. -Aaron --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
