A little late with the review... I saw Autechre live in Manchester last week, unfortunately only as support to Zion Train. This meant a truncated (30-40 minute set) but it was all high quality stuff, mostly their harder-edged, more rhythmically-driven side. A few voguish electro nods as well. As far as I could tell, it was all new (although I have unaccountably not bought the Anti EP yet, so there might have been something from that). This is the fourth time I have seen them and they haven't disappointed yet. Maybe some of these tracks will surface on another SKAM release since there is no indication of further impending WARP releases? Well, it's a nice thought. Adam

As Anti does in fact represent them at their hardest, most rhythmically driven, I suggest you try it out. When I saw them live at Oscillate in Brum they certainly played at least one track from it.

Never know. Don't forget they are supposed to have a release forthcoming on Clear. Seem to remember reading somewhere the suggestion that it will be titled "The sounds of machines our parents used", but I could be mistaken, or misinformed. Autechre's next release is a 12" called _Anvil Vapre_. No release date yet. There is a video for it too. greg The Official WARP Web Site 3 0 3 http://www.ncl.ac.uk/~n264671/wap-indx.html

Thanks for the info. I have just bought an EP called 'Invisible Soundtracks Volume 1' on the Leaf label (catalogue REEL 1) which has a Gescom track on it, spotted whilst browsing. I've only heard it once so far, but it sounds pretty good, especially the Gescom, which seems a bit abstract at first but coalesces later on. A fuller review may follow once I've had the chance for a proper evaluation. The display copy in the shop desacribed it as 'experimental techno/minimalist ambience'. Track listing: Disjecta - Vistic Zurich - A Harsh Truth (parts 1 & 2) --- Being - Cue Gescom - Bronchusix The run out groove has several film directors on it - so it's a concept ep? Adam Huffman

I second that one! It's great. Nice packaging too with the stamps and all. Maybe a Scam sublabel??? BTW I picked up another Scam release with Gescom on it. It's black with braille on it. The only problem is that the vinyl is labled sides C and D. Does this mean the record store jippped me or is it another "Scam" by the label. Not as impressive as the first Gescom thing though and the Gescom track on the Leaf comp is ten times better than BOTH Gescom releases on Scam! PS is it Skam? I forget. -robert --> __ _ _ _____ _____ _____ / _\ | || || _ \|_ _|/ _ \ / /_\\ | -- || |_) | _| |_ | (_) | ______________ /______\\____/|_____/|_____|\_____/ ( *electronic* ) "Thanks for the technical data. That's Gescom II, Snackwitch/Mag, yeah? I think it's C & D because it's kinda part 2 to the original Gescom EP.

Sounds like I _need_ a copy of this then!

I am told that one of these artists is Mark Clifford of Seefeel, and that another still is (yay) Neil Halstead of Slowdive. Can someone here confirm or deny? I got my info from a post to 4ad-l (Slowdive Central) based on something in "last week's NME". This might indeed be an intensely nice thing to have. I know that Slowdive have been working on two soundtracks for quite sometime now. Cool. einexile the imperialist
