I do a sort of "not quite ambient" (hence posting on here) project with a
few friends, and we're thinking of trying to play at clubs and cafes
(down in New Zealand, if anyone else is here!). The way we were going to
set it up is that I'd have loops of rhythms and other samples running on
a computer, and could just fade them in and out and so on, while we jam
on our old analogues and a bass guitar. We've rehearsed a few sessions
like that, so we have a vague idea of how "tracks" progress.
I'd be interested in hearing from other people who have tried to "gig" or
whatever with electronic music, and what they've done.
We're only students, and have no money for visuals or anything, if we do
get this off the ground, so has anyone got suggestions on that front?
I'd like to have something going on other than just a bunch of guys
twiddling knobs (literally and metaphorically :) on stage.
