a while back steve branson was telling people about his radio show and to send tapes for a copies of versions 1-4... i only had one tape left and asked him to send me his favorite... shortly after,i received "apollo 4" in the mail...and after listening to it, it is definitely worth the mailing... most of the music comes from a brief history of ambient 1...and space time continuum's "floatilla" is in there somewhere...anyways it is filled with sound footage from the apollo space mission and when this is mixed over eno's "the ending"...!@?*! if you want a nice 90min ambient mix... his email is dscarey@sdcc13.ucsd.edu thanx steve jav =>

Just got the May new-releases guide from Japan, and I saw: Subsurfing : "Frozen Ants" SR-Apollo-SRCS-7670 I thought this had come out on AO Records (and AO stuff seems impossible to find). Is Apollo re-releasing it? Does that mean it'll be more widely available? Thanks for any info; I really wouldn't wanna get it from Tokyo, considering the exchange rate :) The guide also says there's a new Apollo comp coming soon; and DJ Krush has a single out on Pizzicato Five's Triad label, called "Big City Lover". ...James

I saw this in my local yesterday, and I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned already - there are some pretty big names on this, including a new (far as I know) track by mu-ziq. It's a 2CD compilation, and has a picture of Jesus Christ on the front. Ewan.

Crappy thing is in the notes it says 'Bluff Limbo 2LP/CD' yeah right where the fuck is the CD!! anyways the songs are all solid, except the Locust track, Moby must have co-wrote it cos of the title, it's pretty shite, imho. definately worth getting though otherwise. sung - -- (mRay) z943159@corn.cso.niu.edu

I was curious about that list this of who owns what "independent" label. It was stated that Apollo records was "owned" by a major label. Is this really ownership or just distributorship as I thought Apollo was an R+S offshoot/subdivision? -- Mark Bowen mb@gettins.bche.uic.edu "The universe," said [the devil], "is a Ph.D thesis that God was unable to successfully defend." -James Morrow

Deconstruction, along with Arista, are labels distributed by BMG (RCA). Were you asked about the derivation of certain labels, because some of the labels and their owners taht you mentioned were a little off. There are only a few major labels (6 distributors: WEA, CEMA, BMG, UNI, PDG, and Sony). The labels are thereby utilized through the distributors. Each distributor only had usually about 3 - 6 major lables, whcih in turn would own other labels. For instance, Reprise owned by Warner Bros. -Tyson
