Gee, with posts like this Wells may have to quit his day job and start sarcasm-ing full time. He's met his match. But onto real IDM points - anybody post a review of _Substancia 2_ (Sub Rosa)? I'm especially interested in the Richard Thomas track - I'd hate to blow a whole $8.99 (feeling cheap!) for one track. I'm more interested in the names I hadn't heard of before though ... REPOSTED FROM A DECEMBER THREAD ON IDM... Glad someone mentioned the French Paddleboat release because it is an excellent but little known treasure that was released last month. French Paddleboat is the guise of Scott August who is ½ of the excellent Vote Robot duo. The Conversions in Metric cd, on Canadian Scratch label, is the first French Paddleboat cd after two excellent cassette-only releases on the Granted Passage label. Anyway, the sound of the Conversions in Metric cd is an excellent mix of poppy electronica with just a touch of experimental glitchy electronics proding a nice Isan vs Oval sound. Recommended. A partial French Paddleboat discography... French Paddleboat releaeses: . French Paddleboat: conversions in metric cd (Scratch) . French Paddleboat: constantinople cassette (Granted Passage) . French Paddleboat: rome loves tan cassette (Granted Passage) French Paddleboat Remix appearances: . Vote Robot: versions remix LP (Vegas) For a little more French Paddleboat info check the official Scratch label website at: http://www.scratchrecords.com/scratchlabel.html On a related note... Vote Robot is a canadian duo who produce a wonderful mix of glitchy melodic ambience, experimental electronica, and light touches of indie pop. Fans of early Oval/Microstoria, Jeremy Boyle, Robert Babciz, Tom Steinle, Novisad, etc should really enjoy the Vote Robot output. Vote Robot have a 15-track LP out on the Canadian Vegas label and a ?-track remix LP, called Versions, featuring mixes from Yacka Tundra, Climax Golden Twins, Nova Scotias, Will Simmons, Corvalis, Ralph Haxton, French Paddleboat, Dasbild, Joe Bloggs, and Vote Robot. The Versions LP is also out on the Vegas label. A partial Vote Robot discography... Vote Robot Releases: . Vote Robot: s/t LP (Vegas) .
