the "...i care because you do" promo arrived in the mail today from Sire. it features 12 tracks (with production dates) and a self portrait painted by RDJ himself, as the cover. (those eyes are freakin me out) for the trainspotting crowd, here is the track listing for the cd (listed as if it were vinyl) side a 1. acrid avid jam shred (1994) 2. the waxen pith (93) 3. wax the nip (90) side b 1. icct hedral (edit) (94) 2. ventolin (video version) (94) 3. come on you slags! (90) side 3 1. start as you mean to go on (93) 2. wet tip hen ax (94) 3. mookid (94) side 4 1. alberto balsam (94) 2. cow cud is a twin (94) 3. next heap with (93) please excuse if i spelled anything wrong, everything is just scribbled down. you'll notice two tracks are from 90. just upon a first listen it is easy to pick them out (think xylem tube). and there are no liner notes. for those who could care less about track listings and concentrate on the music, buy this. it's refreshing. dan..... --- email : dkapus41@maine.maine.edu (that's right, maine.) web : http://www.umf.maine.edu/wumf (under construction)

Hmmm. I'm fairly new to this list, so I apologize if this has been pointed out before, but it looks to me like: "waxen pith", "wax the nip", "wet tip hen ax", and "next heap with" are anagrams of "the aphex twin" or close to it (give or take a "the"). "acrid avid jam shred" is an anagram of "richard david james" "cow cud is a twin" is an anagram of "caustic window" I don't know about the others.

the compilation CD i got lists this as "acrid avid jamshred", providing the missing 'R'. (i can't believe i actually posted something to an aphex twin thread that wasn't an all out flame. i must be getting soft in my old age.) nah, that can't be it... i'm not really enchanted by anything i've heard, really. same old aphex "selected ambient works 85-92" tricks: distorted lo-fi drum samples with meandering noodly melodies. it's all rather pleasant and non-confrontational actually. "icct hedral" is probably the best with the menacing strings. but it still sounds like a low-budget horror movie soundtrack. and on a tangential note - i saw the video for "ventolin"... my wife was flipping channels and said "why are they showing pictures of my asthma inhaler?"... so i looked up and there it was. kinda funny, actually, with the menacing "27" looming up there. ooo! scary!
