I hate to point fingers but xmission.com has really seriously been fucking up its mailing lists lately, including the Orb and KLF lists (and the Orbital list, which I don't run but which is run from the site). The subscriber files for several of the lists have simply disappeared more than once, which is probably what happened to most folks who just stopped getting mail from the list, and xmission didn't have adequate backups. I'm now backing them up myself by hand, but the klf and exotica-digest lists were both lost last week and I can't resubscribe anyone because majordomo is now *completely* broken there (not passing list email, not acting on administrative command messages), and neither Pete Ashdown nor his "support" account seem to be getting or responding to the email I've sent them about it. I am absolutely at my wit's end with this situation, and apologize to everyone who's been put out by it, but it's out of my control until I can confince my local ISP to set up/let me set up majordomo here and put the lists under my direct control. Pete Ashdown has been very generous in letting my lists run from xmission but it's clear that with the larger pressures involved in keeping xmission running for the paying customers, he doesn't have time to give parasites like me any kind of attention anymore. :-)

There's a limited-edition CD out in the UK that comes in a digipak that has all kinds of medieval maps as the artwork. The packaging is the only difference; all the CDs (US/UK/UK Ltd.) have the same music. If anyone has the digipak and can scan in the cover art for the Orb Image Archive (http://www.rt66.com/lazlo/OrbImageArchive.html), I'd be grateful to them. -- Lazlo (lazlo@rt66.com)

Majordomo is one giant piece of crap to configure and I've been trying to sit down to resolve its problems for the past three weeks. Now perl5.001 is crashing and that isn't helping the situation at all. The problem with lists being nuked here has been resolved. I'm devoting most of today to fixing perl and majordomo. I am devoting attention to it, the problem is that when the phone rings every three minutes with someone wanting me to hold their hand on configuring WinSock, it doesn't help with getting projects done. Majordomo will get fixed here before Monday. I promise. I've already talked to Lazlo about this on the phone. The reason "support" was so unresponsive here is that Majordomo is my responsibility.
