Actually a passive EQ will not add any noise. If you really know what EQ's are for, you won't try and bost bass with 'em. Get one with a pink noise generator and set the system for the acoustics of the room. Let me re-eword that for ya: "The only reason YOU would buy an EQ unit..." I think personally that it is a matter of individual/situational taste/needs as to whether an EQ unit is appropriate... -Thad
