If you're interested in hearing some intelligent dance music with a
real heavy guitar sound, check out Mindwarp. They only have 2 eps
out, Mindwarp One, and Mindwarp Too. They're on the Stress label.
I'll admit, this puts more stress on the "dance" part of idm, but
listen to Mindwarp Too on a bassy system and I think you'll agree
that they make a pretty intelligent use of bass. I like the way they
pan the toms between left-right-middle, etc.; it adds a lot of
variety. They also tend to use fairly unconventional instruments
(guitar, for example). Check them out if you have a chance.
