I only have 2001 (but I'm getting a dub of 2002 tomorrow) but the
copy I got had a bonus "excerpts from 2002" CD5. I personally like the
new CD quite a bit, even with the pop/glam track ("Right In The Night").
Almost every review of it that I've read has kind of slammed 2001 for
being too commercial, but it isn't really. It's just not generic, dark,
soundtrack-from-Aliens trance. Actually, a lot of it is just straight-up,
good techno. What I like best about it is the overall mood of the CD.
It's _up_, which is a refreshing change. Sure, some of the tracks are a
little questionable (Zen Flash Zen Bones is _not_ one of my favorites)
but I think it is great to see someone doing sound experimentation/
exploration in techno (like Muffled Drums). I like it cuz it's funked up
at times, tranced out at times, and different all the time. And you're
right, you can listen to it two or three times straight and not feel like
you're listening to the same thing over and over again like you do (at
least I do) with most other techno CDs. And I wouldn't worry about either
of these CDs making it to the mainstream at these prices ($35Can!!)
