quoted 2 lines thus it's really just 'electronic music'>thus it's really just 'electronic music' >I know most IDMers don't like the term 'electronica'
I think the thing behind Electronic Listening Music is that most people when they think of electronic music, they think of techno.. Which is meant to be danced to, and played at raves, clubs, etc... Where as, electronic listening music, IDM, or what have you, is just meant to be listened to. Not rocked to, or danced to .. but listened to, like you'd listen to classical music or whatever you listen to. This leads into the explanation of the AI compilation cover art with the guy sitting back in his chair, and the text that says to listen to it while being comfortable, etc. etc. The 'listening' is put in there to destroy the assumption that this music is techno, I believe. .auddpltes << "...in whatever you do, if you can't break new ground, what's the point?" - James Cameron Hillie (hillie@amigascne.org) http://www.atonal.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
