The Flashbulb aka. Benn Jordan rarely makes it out to LA to perform so
this is a special show that you do not want to miss!
Benn Jordan\ The Flashbulb
Best known for the spastic, breakneck beats and emotive melodies he
composes under the alias The Flashbulb, Benn Jordan has been meticulously
crafting a progressive electronic sound for the better part of a decade.
Prolific in output, since emerging on the IDM (intelligent dance music)
scene in the late 90s, the Chicago native has released more than a dozen
albums and EPs on boutique labels including Metatone, Alphabasic and
Sublight. While Jordan himself admits the lifestyle of a bedroom producer
is by no means glamorous, the creative autonomy it affords him is a
crucial detail echoed in his music.
Its impressive and pathetic at the same time, I suppose, Jordan says,
referring to the somewhat cramped environment where he chooses to create
music. Most of my gear is in my small bedroom. There were points where
Id have to sleep on the floor with my head in the pillow of a bass drum,
or share my bed with a keyboard. I work really hard at keeping music as my
life, not a hobby or job. That way its easy to do whatever I want,
whenever I want to do it.
Benn has a new release out on Sublight records:
THE FLASHBULB "FLEXING HABITUAL" ALBUM - 2006.07.19
The Flashbulb turns out a 10 track album of the best breakcore tracks he
has ever produced, trading up the soft organic palette of his last release
Reunion for blinding Amen attacks, hard digital arrangements and tons of
interwoven melodies. Time-stretched and mutilated beats have never sounded
better blended with Benn Jordan's amazing ability for song writing.
Seriously enjoyable stuff for 2006 from The Flashbulb. Preview mp3s and
full tracklist now up on the releases page. "FLEXING HABITUAL" CD comes
out SEPTEMBER 29, 2006.
Benn has also released on his own label Alphabasic and Rephlex Records
