Hey Y'all! - Long email coming up: Phew - made it through the insanity of CMJ, and Fashion Week and Resfest! But the work is never done! And so here is a reminder about my activities: Mondays: GO BANG! gets down every Monday at 6's&8s with Ulysses & G.rizo, spinning disco, electro, techno, house, etc. We have live & DJ guests every week. Some cool guests have been passing through, and you should too! Who says there's nothing happening on Monday's? Its actually a cool night...really! Hey come see/hear for yourself, great music guaranteed! Tuesdays: Nublu has a certain "je ne sais quoi" - it lacks pretension, the vibe is good, and I have played some of my best dj sets there. I am there every Tuesdays with the amazing Kudu, awesome Send and super Cocoa Cracker Brown, stop by anytime! This Wednesday****One Off Special Show: I have a very special live show coming up this week on WEDNESDAY SEPT 21ST @ SCENIC - ELECTRONIC ROMANCE MAGIK, maybe you already got spam about it. Crunc Tesla, Kudu, San Serac, Daniel Givens, G.rizo - FIVE LIVE ELECTRONIC BANDS/ARTISTS who run the gamut of styles and expressions within the field. Its a night that will highlight live performance and I think its going to be real kinetic and very inspiring. PLEASE COME - I ain't too proud to beg - I put this show together from my heart! Hit me up for guest list/reduced list. Thanks for the minute! Ihu/g.rizo ------------------------------------------------------- GO BANG! MONDAY SEPTEMBER 19TH W/ ULYSSES (DJ) & G.RIZO (Live) Guests GHOST BLAZER (LIVE) http://www.ghostblazer.com/ MARCOS CABRAL (DJ - TRAPEZ) http://www.traumschallplatten.de/ 10pm - til Live Sets start at 10:30pm @ 6's & 8's 205 Chrystie St. corner of Stanton FREE info: http://repellentzine.typepad/lhs_long_hot_summer http://www.scatalogics.com ------------------------------------------------------- GHOST BLAZER (LIVE) http://www.ghostblazer.com/ Village Voice on Ghost Blazer: "But Ghost Blazer get surprisingly nasty. So nasty, in fact, that FannyPack's Svengali songwriters Matt Goias and Fancy sought an as-yet-unconsummated collabo with the boys after hearing Act Right . Tiger Skullz (a white-bread Park Sloper whom I've admittedly gotten toasted with once or twice) and 100 percent Indian Staten Islander George Positive snort fat Miami basslines, space out with old-school synth squirts, and put on airs made not only by Nike, but the bling era˜their raps could be inspired by corporate shout-out tracker AmericanBrandstand.com. The duo drop science like names: as outsiders making in-jokes. .. For kids so obsessed with beaten paths, they clearly wanna blaze new trails." - Nick Catucci MARCOS CABRAL (DJ - TRAPEZ) http://www.traumschallplatten.de/ "Growing up on a healthy dose of 80's electronic music, Marcos Cabral found himself importing the electronic sound of the 90's through Syntax Music distribution, helping to bring a handful of labels to the States for the first time such as European distributors Kompakt, Clone, et al. Working alongside Frankie Bones and Adam X at Defunct NYC institution Sonic Groove Records, they pushed Europe's electronic driven sound into record shops Stateside. Soon after, Marcos found his own sound and started producing alongside techno's elite for Cologne's Trapez records, an imprint of Traum. When he's not producing hypnotic minimal gems like "Only Love" by Hansen + DJ Daniel, of which he definitely turned into a deep-tech vocal masterpiece, Marcos is almost always behind a pair of Technics. ? If you are into live sets laden with dirty basslines and steaming jack-filtered acid, go see him play records now." - Sheal (HAUS/Happy Ending) UPCOMING GO BANG! 9/19: (Live) Ghost Blazer & Marcos Cabral (DJ) 9/26: (Live) Bit Shifter, Sal Principato (DJ, Liquid Liquid) & Baumann (DJ, Ickemicke-Vienna) TAsty! ARTIST INFORMATION CRUNC TESLA (TIGERBEAT6) http://myspace.com/crunctesla Grandson of an African American Baptist preacher born in Jim Crow Mississippi, Dj Raedawn got „the Callin‚‰ to rip stages since the age of 4. Besides being a seasoned DMC vet and mixtape maestro to many, he developed the Turntablist Transcription Methodology with his chums Ethan Imboden and Battlesounds' creator John Carluccio. This unique notation system for electronic/dj music has been developed into software, used in music courses around the world and has been featured by the likes of Time, CNN, Blackbook, XLR8R...yatayatayata. At Skratchcon 2000, Q-bert knighted him with the Dj Q-bert SkratchMaster Award from the Global Skratch foundation. Far from a scratch nerd, Raedawn‚s assaulted stages and dancefloors from the legendary Apollo Theatre to the most dank techno til‚ 10 in the morn‚ coke den party in Berlin. Under the name Crunc Tesla , he has collaborated with artists such as Tes ,dDamage ,Airborn Audio and Angelbert Metoyer . Having opened for a wide spectrum of artists, from Stereolab to Dizzee Rascal to the mythical Red Alert, Raedawn's performances have defied genre and moved generations of audiences. The 26 year old ATLien has been hiding out in Brooklyn for the past five years. Crunc Tesla's full length LP, "What's Really Rad?" drops this fall on Tigerbeat6. KUDU (NUBLU RECORDS) http://www.kudu2u.com/ http://myspace.com/KUDU Kudu, the brand new dynamic duo of Deantoni Parks and Sylvia Gordon, connects rawness with realness. A real DIY group, writing and producing everything themselves, their sound can be summed up as Urban New Wave or even more simply Nu-Pop. Aside from the fresh musical ingredients˜without one sour spot concerning image, talent, concept, lyric, or songwriting˜it's about their energy and the excitement of being a part of something familiar but altogether new.  Kudu appeals across the board beyond race, class, nationality, and age. They have packed out all-black Atlanta audiences to all-white audiences in Boston. The formula for Kudu is take what's hot, push it forward, and retain all the dark, beautiful, artistic simplicity. Going to a Kudu show is like falling in love for the first time˜something wild, new, and exciting that will stick in your mind and move your ass. Kudu are performing on a regular basis at Nublu, downtown NYC. SAN SERAC (FROGMAN JAKE) http://frogmanjake.com/sanserac http://myspace.com/sanserac San Serac has delighted and alarmed people all over the fucking place with his perverse Bryan Ferry meets electro/disco/soul. Abrasive house? His self-released album "Ice Age" garnered rave and weird reviews, and he's since been attacking dancefloors on the east & west coasts with the likes of Gravy Train!!!!, DAT Politics, Chromatics, Ratatat, ova looven, and some really bug Anticon cats [to name a few]. He has a track on the new Believer music issue CD, and he's cooking up a tasty new batch of songs recorded with sound engineer Stephen Wright (Wire, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, everybody). San Serac recently moved to New York City. DANIEL GIVENS (AESTHETICS) http://aesthetics-usa.com/artists/danielgivens/bio.html On Dayclear & First Dark /Aesthetics, 2004: "MC-DJ-poet Daniel Givens brings a unique personal history to Dayclear & First Dark , his first full-length since Age five years ago. Not only does the sophomore effort embody his experiences as a gay black man inhabiting New York's concrete jungle in the post-9/11 era, it's also about coming to terms with a childhood friend killed by Jeffery Dahmer. Abetted by Semay Wu's cello, Matana Roberts' sax, and hallucinatory vocal flavourings from Ihu Anyanwu, Lehni Lamide, and Monstah Blak, Givens drapes his gravelly voice over hypnotic voodoo grooves borne from digital textures, samples, and drum machines. While the album's apocalyptic ambiance suggests the unyielding presence of imminent threat, Givens preaches action, not resignation ("You've got to fetch the future"). Think of Dayclear & First Dark as the dark and spacey spawn of Tricky, Sun Ra, Kraftwerk, Gil Scott-Heron, and Agharta -era Miles." - JUNK MEDIA G.RIZO (CODEK/REPELLENT) http://myspace.com/gdotrizo http://www.grizo.com Ihu Anyanwu a.k.a G.rizo is a self-proclaimed "technotainer" and "l'ektronikaraoke" crooner. Interpreting dance music with a freestyle, pop-tastic flair, ranging in style from electro, disco, techno, dub and RnB, one thing‚s for sure: its bound to be funky!! Sonically, she first appeared on the scene with the release of "Je Me Mentis," in 2002, a toxic-dub 12 inch produced by Sasa Crnobrnja and Alex Gloor, released on their label Codek Records. As a singer her sound is a fusion of styles, one which has been described by XLR8R Magazine as "a cross pollination of dirty booty bass, dubby No Wave, (and electric RnB) sung with sexy, irreverent lyrics." Live, she's a one woman kamikaze - a commanding presence, G.rizo brings a delivery that is raw, bold and soulful. Recently G.rizo has collaborated with Gerhard Potuznik (G.D.Luxxe), Patrick Pulsinger, Trio Exklusiv, I-Wolf & Birdy, Dubblestandart, Daniel Givens and In Flagranti. Currently G.rizo works on material for an upcoming full length record. BAUMANN http://www.ickemicke.at http://play.fm/playfm_artists.php?p_id=325 Funkily translated from German to English by Babel Fish: "Hannes Baumann and Tibcurl organize one of the probably most interesting and innovative parties of the Viennese scene - Icke Micke. This man/woman team meets famous guests like DJ Koze, Jennifer Cardini, Luciano, Jeans team etc. Baumann has style, its not straight-lined in its disk choices, he carries you forward on a journey through Maedchenpop and Techno, past House and Electro - tingling, merrily, deep and sexy! " MAX VOLIDO http://www.volido.com "..cracking the dream of the slaves." ------------------------------------------------------- NUBLU TUESDAYS 62 Ave C, btwn 4th & 5th; 10pm, $5 w/ Kudu, Send, G.rizo & Cocoa Cracker Brown http://www.nublu.com http://www.kudu2u.com ------------------------------------------------------- Over and out! __________________________________ Yahoo!
