[idm] Off Topic - free DVD to AVI or MPEG converter?

Hi all,
I dont have any experience doing this so just wondering if any of you can
suggest a free program (for PC) to rip snippets of a DVD and save to my hard
drive as AVI or MPEG. Also, I saw DVDx on sourceforge.net and wanted to know if
that will do it and how that rates with you..
