Here's an odd one. Off topic, but with a strange on-ness. In the spirit of encouraging open-mindedness and a certain exploratory spirit. Or just for the sheer hell of it. Have you noticed that there are one or two 'rock' bands (how quaint) that tend to appeal to people whose preferred tipple has an IDM flavour. Yes? No? OK, well, I have <steamrollering on>. I'll mention Interpol as an example of a band who seem to have a strangely compelling quality for a number of peeps I know who tend to shun R-word outfits. So, anyway, if you're one of these types or suspect you might be a closet fan of dark-tinged atmospheric melodic er... guitar-with-vocals-bass'n'drums music (phew), then I suggest you look out for a bunch from Birmingham called Editors (without a 'The', I believe) who have some new stuff coming out now which bears the hallmarks of a new Bunnymen or Joy Division or er... is it OK to mention U2...? *Early* U2...? Er... You've all gone quiet... I'll get me coat... alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett (Senior Language Co-ordinator - EFL) Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol, BS8 1PY, UK tel: +44 (0)117 3310914 e-mail: Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
