Forums are lame. The whole concept is great for, say, technical
support but socially speaking they're just inept. Broken even.
I would predict that with Google getting behind traditional internet
technologies and the whole semantic web thing a sort of renaissence.
Where everyone can use email, blogs, weblogs and IM to communicate
seemlessly between internet medium via RSS. With a lot of
meta-information about content annoyances like .sigs, spam and even
newbs can be filtered out automatically and conveniently.
I'm sometimes really suprised how much technology oriented music tends
to avoid new communication technologies to promote itself. With
weblogs, trackback pings and RSS the function of this very mailing
list could be emulated without a central source. With advantages like
richer media content as well.
I've had too much coffee this evening.
