Why would an indie label negate communication with you because of your relation with a big label? did you try enough labels? (I am talking 400 - 500 here... not just sending 5 demos out and waiting for the girls to rush by your house with their mouth open...) -----Original Message----- From: Glowdot Dot Com [mailto:rick@glowdot.com] Sent: Saturday, June 19, 2004 12:28 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] Funkadvertising And I'm an artist who felt the sting of corporate nonsense when my album was dumped by a major US label (very major) who didn't think they'd make any money on it. They probably wouldn't have, and yet I haven't had a single shred of interest from any of the so-called "indie" labels in the aftermath who pose as underground and free to do as they please. Probably as a result of my association with said large US label. Either way, both sides are trying to profit. One by brainwashing masses of simple-minded and naïve teenagers who haven't yet developed their own tastes or found their place in the world. The other by capitalizing on the hipness of obscurity. Which leaves me in the middle, unable to make a dime in this stupid business. XLR8R are not to blame here, though. Neither are Warp. It just is how it is.
