Re: Morgan Failure's post I agree with your sentiment, and also the need for discussion groups like this. Interactions with other people are typically the only way I discover new music in the array of electronic sub-genres that I enjoy. I've joined several other groups that focus on Dreampunk (an off-shoot of ambient vaporwave) as this seems to be where a lot of new growth in electronic music is happening right now. I think you could classify some of what is happening over there as a continuation of IDM, but my feeling is that 'IDM' as a brand has ceased to exist. The same kind of music is still being made, it just has new names (and obviously, some of the music is not IDM and is taking a different path). It probably won't ever change in name, but I treat the idm Digest more like an 'underground electronic music of all types' digest. Are others feeling the same? -R
