I am going to shamelessly jump into this thread with a bit of self-hype
about the recent live tech house jazz sets I've been doing with Digital
Cutup Lounge West...things have really been heating up with the addition
of drummer Chris Saleh to the mix...we'd really like to start playing
more around town if any of you promoters would be interested in having
us as live musical guests.
Brief description: I am mixing tracks beats and sounds on my computer
together with two musicians, Pask on computer-effected sax and Saleh
laying down live drum grooves. Our sound is minimal tech house with
layers of jazz on top, it's not IDM exactly but I think a lot of IDM
fans would dig our sound...particularly now that our sax player (Andrew
Pask of Cycling 74) is using MAX/MSP to twist his jazz lines into
strange n-dimensional sounds and configurations.
I have just finished putting together a new webpage with a few pics and
links to tracks that we have been playing out live...have a look:

We will be playing at the Derby next Thursday from 7-8p as part of this
CLUB DIY thing if anyone's interested. More info on DCL event page
http://www.digitalcutuplounge.com/ and click 'events'.
Sorry for the blatant plug, but I am really excited about how the band
is sounding now and I want to get out and tear up some SoCal clubs...I
have been spending too much time on various studio projects (and
graduate school in ethnomusicology) since moving to LA from Hong Kong in
late 2001 and now I wanna get back to playing live a lot more.
I have been building up my own mailing list of SoCal heads at DCL gigs,
we would love to get together with some local promoters and help with
the PR for the party as well if DCLW is going to play.
I can also send CDs and PR materials if anyone is interested, just email
me.
