I've heard this comment from many people lately (both at Movement/DEMF
and Mutek), and have to wonder about it.
Are those who are saying Pole's new music with Fat John is bad saying
this because they dislike hip-hop in general, or because they think the
new material is bad hip-hop? In other words, would you dislike any
material that Pole produced with an MC, or do you have an interest or
background in the music that helps you view the new Pole material in a
critical context, comparing it to other hip-hop? This is not a flame,
just an honest question to help me understand the opinions of others.
I personally enjoyed the new material very much; there were definitely
points where Fat John was a little off the rhythm track; I chalked it up
to the riddim being so sparse in points.
