Two-octave keyboards fit into a rack. Mine also fits nicely on my desk, conveniently next to my keyboard and mouse.

I'm not sure who you're trying to speak for here, but I reckon the target audience for these 'boards are not doing eight-part voicings. To be sure, there is a healthy amount of electronic artists who seem to be trying to make use of their 8 years of piano lessons in a useful way (god bless 'em), but I'm under the impression that more people are just picking out notes and lines piecemeal, triggering samples, etc. Speaking personally, if the Akai MPC-like trigger pad had more assignable controls, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
