I love my o8 and haven't had any problems with it and I don't think the construction is that cheap (it's not the best mind you). I just checked out the Edirol and I now want to upgrade. The price is just a bit more than what I paid for my o8 less than a year ago. Check out ZZounds (http://www.zzounds.com/item--EDIPCR30). I'm not sure how their service is but I always go there to check prices. I just check the price of the Oxygen 8 there and it's down to $140. For about $40 more you get what looks to be a better keyboard. The only nice thing about the o8 which is missing from the PCR-30 is the ability to run it off of batteries. I've never done this with mine and I can't really think of a situation where I don't either have power or access to USB. It might come in handy if you're using it with a module and the wall wart is covering up both plugs but other than that....
