I never dealt with SIN but (K-RAA-K)3 in belgium owes me almost
$400 for
transmissions CDs. They promised to pay as recently as this
spring but I
haven't heard anything since then.
well, indeed KraaK3 have encountered many problems and owe money to several labels.
though I wouldn't compare SIN and KraaK because KraaK try to issue good music on
their label, share their passion and have a good attitude.
Whereas SIN was the typical distro taking a % on record and not any risk in doing a
label... Meeting them they had that attitude "I'm the hipest kid in town"... After
that meeting I feared they wouldn't be reliable, too immature and giving the
impression of trying to play a role in the music to impress their friends, find a
position in their microsociety... etc... etc... In May 2001 I stopped working with
them, sending new releases to them, and even today they still have stocks of the
first four BiP_HOp discs and do not return them. At least after chasing them up,
harassing them I got paidd the sold quantities.
Recently met Johan from KraaK3 when we did our BiP_HOp night in Brussels, and he was
a mature and very nice chap, really regretting not being able to pay labels he did
distro as fast as he'd like to... Little by little I know he is paying some, and
really trying his best. Basic problem is that they are still owed money by several
stores...
Distro is a paain for us labels, but also for distros unless you belong to the world
of labels that sells a LOT and work with huge retailers. Though a big one like
Dutch-East India is owing thousands of buck to us all... Tough job to survive out
there.
have a nice day
