Boom Bip/Tony Morley radio mix 4. forthcoming releases 5. other Leaf events 1. 'Lost For Words' budget label sampler budget sampler CD / BAY 27CD / UPC 666017041629 release date: Monday 2 September 2002 mail order price: 3.00 GBP (+p&p) for mail order, real audio samples and further info, go to: http://posteverything.com/artists/release.php?id=2308 A full-length label compilation for the price of a CD single? You may well find yourself Lost For Words at the prospect of such bounty... Lost For Words is the successor to the enormously popular Osmosis budget-priced sampler from 1999 which ushered in The Leaf Label's second wave of artists, including Susumu Yokota, Eardrum, Gorodisch and 310. Lost For Words consolidates the reputation of a label that has grown exponentially since then, with the deserved success of Yokota and Manitoba, and worldwide critical acclaim for the likes of Murcof and Asa-Chang & Junray. Lost For Words gives you a bargain-priced opportunity to hear tracks from all the recent Leaf album releases - Murcof, Asa-Chang & Junray, Boom Bip & Doseone and A Small Good Thing - as well as other highlights from recent Leaf catalogue, and tracks from forthcoming offerings by Manitoba, Susumu Yokota, Gorodisch and 310. Asa-Chang & Junray's 'Hana' is already an undisputed classic. Sofa Surfers stunning rework of Eardrum is given a timely re-release (its first time on CD), now that Leaf will be releasing the Surfers new album in the UK this autumn. 'Fairy Link' and 'Future Tiger' are taken from The Boy And The Tree, Susumu Yokota's highly anticipated follow up to 2001's Grinning Cat album. Murcof and Boom Bip & Doseone, two of Leaf's latest finds, each contribute two tracks. And what about an exclusive nugget or two? Step forward those international men of mystery, The Sons Of Silence, whose first release in three years is a track they recorded for the soundtrack of cult UK TV show Spaced. Plus a live Eardrum track, recorded at the Leaf party at London's Cargo last Christmas, and brand new, previously unreleased cuts by Manitoba, 310 and Gorodisch. The album features another classic design by Non-Format, giving the option of four different front covers for those with short attention spans. 1. Asa-Chang & Junray - Hana 2. Boom Bip & Doseone - Me And People 3. Murcof - Memoria 4. Susumu Yokota - Fairy Link 5. Manitoba - Air Doom 6. Murcof - Mir 7. Gorodisch - The Killing 8. A Small Good Thing - Saloon Dreams 9. Asa-Chang & Junray - Nigatsu 10. The Sons Of Silence - The Mit Out Sound 11. Eardrum - Low Order (Sofa Surfers Rework) 12. 310 - Installation Linoleum 13. Eardrum - Red Eye (live edit) 14. Susumu Yokota - Future Tiger 15. Gorodisch - Setting Sail 16. Manitoba - Tits & Ass: The Great Canadian Weekend 17. Boom Bip & Doseone - 21 To 35 2. SOFA SURFERS - 'Selling Souls' import 12" Import 12" / cat #: 5504626 / barcode: 724355046260 release date: Monday 9 September 2002 mail order prices: 5.00 GBP (+p&p) Artist website: http://www.sofasurfers.net for mail order, real audio samples and further info, go to: http://posteverything.com/artists/release.php?id=2426 PLEASE NOTE! 'Selling Souls' is a Klein Records 12", specially imported to the UK by The Leaf Label, as a prelude to the release of the album Encounters, which will be released by The Leaf Label in the UK only on September 30. Vienna's Sofa Surfers have an awesome reputation in Europe and the UK for their dub heavy, song-based rhythmic attacks, but even casual listeners to their new recordings will realise that they've outlived their slack downtempo name. Equally, they've left behind their home city's reputation for lounging stoner beats. As you will discover, this is a very good thing. Sofa Surfers' third album Encounters is a politically-astute, dancefloor-savvy sucker-punch with a staggering line-up of guest MCs and vocalists (including Mark Stewart, Junior Delgado, Sensational and Jeb Loy Nichols) augmenting the Surfers most realised music yet. The first taste is the menacing glory of 'Selling Souls'. The track features MC Santana, a fiery German upstart with a drum & bass background. "He's a young GI kid and jungle MC from Berlin," explains the band's Wolfgang Schlögl. "He was travelling through Germany, Switzerland and Austria with various jungle soundsystems. I heard him on the radio MCing over a DJ mix. The next day I called the station and we met in the studio for a session." The 12" includes a complete overhaul of the album track by Sofa Surfers themselves, plus two stunning remixes. In the hands of Kevin Martin (Techno Animal, The Bug, etc), MC Santana's vocal is stripped down and bolted onto a stinging dancehall rhythm. Fans of his recent productions as The Bug will know that Martin is currently on fire with his nasty 7" Razor X productions. Klein Records' label head Christian Candid's mix is a dirty breakbeat bomb, harnessing the power of the original for the dancefloor. A1. Selling Souls (Sofa Surfers Rework) A2.
