Disagree all you want. He copped onto the Folk thing and shifted gears when
it suited him. This is something he has freely admitted to doing in
interviews forever - he calls *himself* a chameleon. He may have taken
various styles to different places, but I certainly wouldn't call him an
innovator - not even vocally (he is consciously trying to cop Scott Walker
- another thing he admits) . As far as being a fan, I was following him
before he hit the charts with Space Oddity and I still think he's worthy of
a listen (although I find his latest record tedious and unspectacular).
