1. Mathers writes his own lyrics and produces quite a bit of his own material. Elvis did not. 2. Buddy Holly, Elvis et al. did a lot to further 'black' or 'race' music in the marketplace and in people's minds at the time. Eminem is riding a bandwagon started nearly two decades ago. 3. White people selling black music to white folks? See also KC and the Sunshine Band, Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra, Jackie Gleason, Vanilla Ice, Kenny G, any and all Ska bands. 4. The silliness of this issue is illustrated by the fact that one hardly ever brings up the race of a female artist regardless of style. Granted, not a lot of white girl rappers. Plenty of soul/jazz/pop performers, though. With the right glasses on, it becomes clear that the race issue is still about fear and penises. 5. Eminem is a former member of D12. D12 was a Detroit act. Thusly, along with KISS, Kid Rock, Ted Nugent and Madonna, Eminem is more appropriately discussed on 313 and not IDM. Thanks. Tom P.S. yeah, back again.
