I guess it depends on what you're looking for really. The vast majority of all D&B ever made isn't timeless. Most of it sounds best when put into context. And it seems to me the current context has taken D&B into more of a mutant form directed at the dancefloor. There's really no "jumpup" or "techstep" or "intelligent" anymore...but some kind of merging of these subgenres that were moving in opposite directions at times, whether that's good or bad is another debate i guess. In general right now isn't the optimal time for somebody into "IDM" to check out D&B. They will be bored more than likely. But you can go to a club and hear more variety in the flavor of tunes spun - its not in such a one-dimentional phase as it was a couple years back. Whether you care for it is really a matter of taste. Its no golden age though. I'd agree that there is alot less inspiration in D&B... it comes from there being too many limitations the scene puts on itself, which aren't going to change any time soon. But that's ok by me, when there's lots of people that don't limit themselves to being only part of the D&B scene. - cutups --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
