Muslimgauze's 1995 Stalplaat release 'Izlamaphobia' has been re-released
in the United States by Level Plane.
I have only heard dribs and drabs of Muslimgauze over the years but when
I heard this in the store I had to have it. The beats are great, and sound
fresher 7 years on than a lot of what I've heard recently. The way
he imparts every track with noisey texture is amazing. Very loopy and
at times harsh, it brings bleakness and disquiet with eccentric
eastern-influenced drum programming. Those of you who were down for
Muslimgauze from the start know what I'm talking about...
Big up to Level Plane for re-releasing it with a lush reproduction of the
original art on a gatefold jacket. Limited to 700 copies, so grab it.
Given recent history, the cover and gatefold pictures are all the more
relevant and controversial.
