Here's a review I did for my website. More can be found at: http://www.staticbeats.com/music_reviews/ I've never purchased any of Drexciya's releases on CD but I own a couple EP's on vinyl and I'm familiar with his appearances on various compilations. I know Drexciya = electro but in reality I couldn't sit around and talk shop about his life's work. Glad I am to now have this superb release to talk about with my fellow shoegazers. In a word, this album is Fly; supa dupa fly. I half expected it to be more breakbeat electro (in the vein of Aux 88) but the majority of the tracks here are straight 4/4 which makes sense as it's being released on Tresor Berlin. It's amazing how much can be said for a really unpleasant album and how little can be said of a thoroughly enjoyable album such as this. What I can say however is that it's great and is sure to become an oft-played classic in my collection as well as receiving plenty of airtime here at StaticBeats. If I could rename the album I'd probably call it "Pieces in a Modern Style" because really, that's what it is classic electro given the modern treatment for 2002. Recommended.
