Actually, you don't really get to say if a band covers your song or not. Samples, yes, you control use f your recordings, but song-wise, but if they want to cover it, they just have to pay what is known as the "mechanical rate" - which is somewhere between 7 and 9 cents per copy sold, I believe. You only get to determine who records your song first. After that, it is fair game for anyone. One you've published a song, I think that anyone who pays the mechanical rate can do a cover as long as they notify and pay you the established fee. So, while you could get your ass sued off for an illegal Minor Threat remix album, you could do covers without samples for the whole damn thing, be you Limp Biz, Moby or Missy Elliot, and be clear. -td. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
