I apologize for not having posted to this list for a long time and then coming in guns a blazin’. Pretty uncool, and even downright obnoxious.
And for that I apologize.
However, I will continue to say something when I see words of hate.
“beatwife” are words of hate.
It is instructional=punch women.
I find that absolutely inexcusable.
I worry that the male-dominated electronic music community sometimes is more complicit in such things than we realize.
I’ve been a member of this list for over 15 years.
(story time)
A long, long time ago I wrote a Venetian Snares review and said something like “your girlfriend will hate this.” I was trying to be funny.
A female emailed me and explained to me why that was offensive. I was blindsided, defensive, then humbled. I was wrong.
Language is very, very important. These things truly do matter. And if there was pressure from the community, maybe BW would change his name. I emailed him. I’ll let you know what he says.
I want to thank the idm list for allowing this forum to take place. Sorry if I went a little red there for a while, but this is something I feel strongly about, and I found it upsetting that some of the misogynistic views I assume I’ll find elsewhere, I found here (where I wouldn’t expect it). I caught me off guard.
I’m sure you are all wonderful people.
Bless the idm list.

22tape, imagine what a female would feel reading your last post.
A female who is trying to learn more about a male-dominated genre of music she loves? Making idm herself.
She would be rightfully disgusted. "fist" (while an accepted consensual act) connotes violence without context.
sexual violence.

1. Beatwife=beat wife. Period.
2. Skinny Puppy isn't a great example, but I hear you. Someone mentioned Goat Whore. Personally, I think that is a vile band name that perpetuates the abuse of women.
3. Fisted Sister=perpetuates abuse against women.
