Dear IDMots, I am curious: do you take your IDM seriously? I am probably older than average here at 40 something. Back in the early seventies, my preferred listening was the likes of King Crimson, Zappa, Yes, Genesis, ELP etc.. I was often accused by friends of taking music too seriously. Since that time there hasn't been much in the way of "progressive" popular music. I am happy that IDM represents a real resurgence of experimentation and new forms of expression. And I take it pretty seriously. Of course it's not as simple as serious=good and light=bad, far from it. There's plenty of IDM with humour and fluff too. So, do you take it seriously? Are you glad, like me, that it's okay to be taking music seriously again? Martin n.p.
