From the (excellent) Aphex Twin interview at http://www.groove.de
quoted 1 line Gleichzeitig starten Squarepusher und ich unser eigenes Label.> Gleichzeitig starten Squarepusher und ich unser eigenes Label.
He says that he and Sqpr are starting their own label - NOT as a sub-label to Rephlex, but one run by just the two of them. He states that he's contractually obliged to release with Warp, but made a deal that he'd give them this double album and then they'd release him from any further obligations. It appears that as far as his US releases go, he'll be working under the name of "AFX" on Rephlex because Warner Brothers bought and 'own' his work as Aphex Twin. Complicated legal sh*t ;-( He further states that he's starting this label with Tom J because Tom hates recording on a label whose other artists he dislikes, and then says categorically that 'Tom Jenkinson hates everything on Warp except for the old stuff. LFO is probably the last record that he liked."
quoted 2 lines Er hasst alles auf Warp. Er mag nur die alten Sachen. "LFO" ist> Er hasst alles auf Warp. Er mag nur die alten Sachen. "LFO" ist > wahrscheinlich die letzte Platte, die er mochte
He doesn't seem to mind the fact that the album has already leaked onto the internet and claims that if people download it and like it, it will benefit future sales via word-of-mouth. Some of the tracks on DrukQs are as much as 8 years old, however, the most recent is also the album closer "Nanou2". He also says that the titles DrukQs does NOT refer to 'drugs' or 'drug use'. It *does* mean something, but he's not prepared to divulge what. (thanks!) And he specifically wanted to make the track titles unpronounceable (he achieved that!)
