I live in a small town, so local stores usually don't carry what I'm looking
for. If it weren't for online stores, I'd still be listening to The Flaming
Lips and Beck all day. There's one store (Hastings) that gets some odd
Force Inc. releases in now and again, a few things from Warp as well.
Usually I'll order the things that I really want from Skimo or Bent Crayon,
and sometimes I'll find things at Hastings that I wouldn't have bought
otherwise (Gez Varley, Kid606 - P.S. You Love Me, etc.). So I guess the
moral is be happy you can choose whether to order or buy locally, cuz some
people are limited to just ordering.
