People tend to forget that IDM began as a relatively mellow, complacent form. With that in mind, it's obvious that a lot of the new (and veteran) artists are gonna want to stick to that initial parti. Genres of music generally don't wholly revolutionize over a ten-year span, but some of the participating artists may certainly go off on a tangent and stay there. IDM fans come from different walks. Some have their roots in ambient, some in industrial, some in general dance. It's a blessing we have a lot to choose from. And it's refreshing when we end up on the same page (people who were only turned on to the spastic stuff begin to enjoy the melodic stuff, and v/versa).

This is a very personalized statement, and I'll take it as that. But this is not something IDM needs to get over, it's something you need to get over. IDM is a very up-and-coming media, and we're all witnessing it become larger than it was just a few years back. Luckily there's plenty of different avenues and subavenues to choose from. So it starts to get hemroid-inducing when so many fans find room to complain about what they don't like. -char _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
