I agree with the last response.. It is not unreasonable to think that this was a relatively lo-tech operation involving small group(s) of smart people. What is more fearful and disturbing is that a group of human beings found within themselves and perhaps their beliefs enough motivation and follow-through to consciously destroy all these lives. Once someone has such will, little can be done to stop them. Which begs the question: Beyond personal motivation from these individuals and their belief systems, what else was there to foster this hate? what u.s. operations are we unaware of overseas? obviously there is much we don't see.. I am certain more death will follow as a result of this. I am not certain that those who will be killed will have deserved to be killed, or that through bombing & diplomatic measures future occurrences will be prevented. We all lose in this occurrence. Why are such things allowed in this world? What am i not seeing that I am responsible for? Why wasn't I a victim this time? The cardboard box-slashed flight attendant? The bubbling-flesh burned execs in the wtc stairwells? The crushed fireman with a wife and 3 children? this is a tragedy of incalculable proportions that can never be fully explained.

I respect what you said here, and it's been said a lot. But correct me if I'm wrong ... this plot would only require a few things: 16-20 suicidal motherfuckers with knives (easy to smuggle on planes), four of which can steer a commercial airliner (easy enough, as I understand, once it's in the air). All they'd have to do is get together in a hotel room and plan it to take place on a certain day, easy enough ... So why does it have to have been a state, again? Or even Bin Laden ... it actually seems pretty easy to carry out. Stunningly easy. I wonder where the 4th plane was headed. I assume the passengers must have gotten the best of the hijackers on that one. I think the use of the word "war" is a bit out of place, personally. Could have been any of a thousand extremist terrorist cells, funded by anyone. ----- Original Message ----- From: "horripilations obscures" <horripilations@hotmail.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, September 12, 2001 7:11 PM Subject: [idm] re:bombings
