Jayzus Mary and Joseph, it amazes me that anyone takes May's comments
that seriously. A) the conditions NOW are completely different than
11 years ago. B) May is a bit of a snake oil salesman.
All the Detroit heads are now, to a greater or lesser extent, using
computers. End of story. Live playing still figures into their
production technique as well.
And May's output SINCE 1990 has been vanishingly small. I wish him well
and want to hear new May tracks as much as the next guy, but I'm not
holding my breath. It's like waiting for a My Bloody Valentine album ...
Maybe he's still working on a track since 1990 and just can't seem to
play the bassline right.
