WELLS FUCKING OLIVER. Now, seriously... never enough credit is given to folks like Severed Heads, Throbbing Gristle, earlier DAF, Cabaret Voltaire, early Eno, etc.... Listen to Severed Heads' "A Million Angels" or "Ayoompteyempt/Bladder Of Thousand Bedouin", and you can't deny how ahead of its time it was. Obviously early 20th century classical artists like John Cage, Edgar Varese, Conlon Nancarrow, Luciano Berio, Ligeti, Xenakis, Schoenberg, Stockhausen, etc. are mandatory mentions. Obviously, all of the modern IDM superstars are unique as well, but a lot of folks just don't bother to look back beyond that... In fact, Coil is a great example, as they fit in the latter *and* former categories... ======================================================================= Brian MacDonald <brianm@kuci.org> ======================================================================= --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
